Chat in English (英語で雑談) part 215
https://lavender.2ch.sc/test/read.cgi/english/1579957638/

2 :
test

3 :
I want to become speaking English more fluently .
But it’s difficult for me to come up with English expressions in a moment.
How can I improve my English skills?

4 :
Speak, speak, speak

5 :
Find native English speakers to talk with.
Nothing is more helpful to learn a language than that.

6 :
good night

7 :
>>3
Before you find native speakers, just talk to yourself in English.
You can make as many mistakes as you want cuz you are just talking to yourself. Don’t use same words all the time try to find other words and expressions you learned recently.
There is no shortcut for leaning language, but keep these three below in your mind.
・Be patient
・Make mistakes
・Practice everyday
Then you can dramatically improve your English competency. Good luck.

8 :
Today I watched Lucy's youtube "secret method of speaking English fluently" or something such title name.
she recommended as follow,
1. make it daily. study every day.
2.speak everything by the target language.
3.immersion
4. stop translation in your head
Don't start translating in your head in the first place.
5. Insist on only speaking in English with your teacher.
6. use a monolingual dictionary in the language you are learning.
if you want to find a word, use a thesaurus.
7. speak out loud to yourself in your target language.
think to yourself in your target language

9 :
>>8
I agree with her for most points except #6.

Sometimes you can't find a word you are looking for if you use a
dictionary only in English. Using a thesaurus won't solve the problem
either, as you don't know the word to seed. In that case,
you should rely on a dictionary from your native language to English
to avoid a massive inefficiency. If you look up an English word you already
knew, it's probably better to use English only dictionary, though.

10 :
>>8
She is a typical condescending bitch.

11 :
>>7
Thank you for your response.
Maybe it’s important to try to come up with English expressions in my mind.

12 :
If i should go outside tommorrow soon I
would have the virus.

13 :
I’ve been looking for face masks for a long time.
But it’s really difficult to find them.
I hope it will appear soon.

14 :
>>10
she is beautiful but sometimes she looks older.

15 :
A drug store didn't sell toilet rolls. I couldn't find them at a convenience store too. What's going on?

16 :
Why does someone make mistakes too many times, when he/she speaks English? Because he/she never memorize sentences, just trying to make sentences on his/her own. Children don't make sentences, just copy it.

17 :
When you mentioned "buying mask problems”, what exactly were you getting at?
you should make it. it is easy to make.
as looking long line before the medical shop and waiting to buy a mask,
I thought what a foolish Chinese.
but many Japanese also waiting by line, I was shocked.

18 :
I can't make toilet paper.

19 :
Today I have free time.
So firstly I thought I went to hot spring, but on second thought I decided to stay home because of Corona virus.
I hope Corona virus will be removed as soon as possible.

20 :
I got toilet paper. It's double price. But I'm very happy.

21 :
I still go to gym, public bath, and sex establishment as usual but nothing has happened to my health so far.
I think I have great immune system against this new virus, or I might have been infected already but no symptom has been shown.
So, you guys had better stay away from me.

22 :
>>20
You hit trap.

23 :
Afternoon! Native English speaker here. I'm happy to answer any language questions, and to check anything for you.

24 :
Nah, it's alright

25 :
Fuck gaijins.

26 :
>>24
No worries

>>25
Indubitably

27 :
>>23
Do they sell toilet paper in your place?

28 :
A mask and toilet paper are enough in my town. No one has stocked them up for the future.

29 :
I want to punch people in the face who don’t wear masks in the public spaces.

30 :
>>16
Yes, you are right.
However, writing is not enough just to copy.
So we must inevitably use our imagination to write.
But I don't know if it's actually correct in English. This is very predicament.

31 :
>>27
In Tokyo? You can find it at shops in the morning. However, I hate people who buy more toilet paper and masks than necessary.

32 :
Exactly. Such cowards are the reason why shops run out of those items. And it‘s funny they even blame other people who don’t have toilet rolls and masks.

33 :
Recently I’ve developed my asthma,so I went to a clinic to get inhalers today.
But I’m worried if I’m infected by Corona virus.

34 :
>>31
News said that happened in Sydney too. I found them in the morning in Tokyo as you said.

I was able to buy water and toiletpaper from imported goods shop on the net when Japan had big earthquake.

But this time, it's not only Japan's problem.

35 :
>>34
In the UK, hand soaps and sanitisers were missing from the shelves last weekend.
Everything else is kinda normal.

36 :
By the way, to wash your hands for 30 seconds, you can sing the "happy birthday" song twice.
Since I learned it from a podcast, I tend to sing the song when I wash hands.
By-product of doing it is the improvemnet of my mood.

37 :
I hope with this corona virus white people will die out so that “people of colour” can live in harmony.

38 :
why do you think so? In Italy, I guess the dead is almost Chinese who immigrated to from Onsyu as a factory worker.
Onsyu people are famous working at Wuhan also.

39 :
>>36
excessive handwashing is not good for your body.
our skin is covered with a thin acidic barrier and it is a primary fort to protect the body from infections.
if this is well established, it can prevent the pathogen and virus from attaching to the hand.

40 :
>>36
this is evidence that we should not wash hands too much.
https://president.jp/articles/-/24208?page=2

41 :
How do you improve your listening skill?
Do you recommend anything like youtube channel or program ?

42 :
>>41
Anything you like is fine, if it has subtitle.

43 :
>>41
Don't worry. You are not going to make it whatever you do ;)

44 :
I just counted my masks at home. Only 406 masks available... I feel insecured.

45 :
>>40
I heard about the theory but do you think the germs on your hand beat
corona virus?
I'd rather wash hands...

46 :
>>44
It's not particularly funny to hear something like this on the anniversary of the Tohoku quake.

47 :
>>41
Skills are hard to improve in a visible way after a certain period of practice,
but they start to improve rapidly from a certain point.
For example, words are difficult to remember at first and forget everything
you remember.
However, when it exceeds 5,000, it can be remembered immediately.
So don't give up. make it daily.

48 :
English sounds noise to Japanese. Children can listen everything. I assume the sound of L and R are totally different to returnees.

Anyway I took 10years to get listening skill. It's not perfect. But I'm satisfied.

49 :
>>48
Your English sucks, though.

50 :
>>48
I envy you as I haven't been able to start anything to improve my listening of English.
If you don't mind, can you tell me any clues? From what do you think I had better try?

51 :
>>44
I dare to write this though you might not feel
it comfortable; masks are not actually effective
on preventing you from suffering from the infection
of corona virus. The size of texture of the
mask is far larger than the size of the virus, so that
the virus can go freely through into you nose through the mask.
The case the mask could be helpful is only when it is used by
those who have cold or have infected with the virus, so that
saliva or snot on a sneeze or a cough would be kept from flying to
a far distant range. If you are healthy, you don't have any such virus, so
there is no fear that you would have others infected with your splashing viruses.
Rather, putting the mask for a long hour and long days, I think you have any risk on your
lung, as high humidity is not good to it.
Having you read stories that a patient of tuberculosis go to a sanatorium in a highland.
I know two of them. One Kaze tatinu by HORI, Tatsuo, where the highland is Karuizawa
another The Magic Mountain by Tomas Man, where it is Davos, famous for the meeting of world business
executives to which even leaders of countries are invited, of course with President Trump included.

52 :
>>46
owing to you line, I first noticed today is the day
of the earthquake. To me, it seems the thing
which had occurred on far gone past.

53 :
>>51
>>52
Look how an autist starts a new line.

54 :
When 311 earthquake occured , what were you guys doing?

55 :
I was sleeping on my bed because I was in spring holiday.

56 :
>>49
I know. People say you are a beginner level. But your personality is sucks too.
>>50
1 You read lots of English sentences with Japanese translation. Then you get reading skill.
2 Choose a YouTube video with subtitle. Then do shadowing. The part you can't say is the word you don't know or you don't know the real pronunciation. Memorize those words.

57 :
I can't go anywhere because of corona.
I usually work at the library nearby as a freelance, but now that place is closed until the end of this month.
So frustrating.

I don't even feel like I want to wank these days...

58 :
>>56
The word suck is a verb, you retard.

59 :
>>58
Your personality sucks, you faggot.

60 :
>>59
Imao, it's too early yet for you to practice writing exercises. That is not only useless but also harmful to your brainlet.
You'll develop some bad habits and end up having to correct them later.

61 :
>>60
brainlet???

You can post whatever you want to, as long as it's written in English.
Judging from your previous posts, your proficiency in written English
is limited but please try writing in English.

64 :
There's a lot of rude people in this thread. You should take a walk.
Don't vent your anger toward random people on the internet.
>>51
Masks are effective, researchers have proven this.
It is governmental bodies that are saying they do not work.

65 :
>>63
It's scary to write in English.
I was talking about how to learn English in another thread. Then, someone told me, but Your English is bad. It meas people who speak fluent English can give advice.

To be continued

66 :
And I said "Then write in English". He wrote in English.
He wrote "huh that what wrong" as "Huh! Was that sentence wrong? "
I said "my English is bad, but I'm better than you."

And he copied a sentence from a native speaker. That was slang. So I couldn't understand at all. Because I had learned only basic sentences.

To be continued
>>64
Thank you.

67 :
And then, an another man told me something like "Your English is bad"
He thought I don't speak good English, because I didn't understand slang at all.

And I said he is the one who blamed me first, besides his English isn't better than me.
G

68 :
But whenever he finds me, he keeps saying curse words to me even when I say something like"It's fine today"

69 :
Sorry that I was a bit rude. (I'm >>63)

But, for some reason, I can't bear with a person who wrote in Japanese in this thread.
If you want to talk in Japanese, you can find numerous threads on this board, and
you don't have to offend anyone else (probably just me ;) ) here by posting in Japanese.

70 :
I don't know he is he or not.
But I want to say learning English without living abroad is hard. So I sometimes talk about the way of learning in another threads.
He's fluent. So he is annoyed to me. I have to stop talking about how to learn English. And he had some rude comments in this thread except about me as well. So maybe he is not a calm person. Anyway I will not read his comments.

71 :
>>69
You were not rude. I'm not willing to write in Japanese. This case is special. I'll never read his comments. So maybe another special case is not coming.

72 :
I wrote this in Japanese to>>62.
He's fluent in English. I thought he is a returnee. But he use too many curse words. I assume he is not.

73 :
>>71
Good to hear that.

74 :
I'm going to have some sleep.
Good night〜(・∀・*)

75 :
I don't mind how limited your English comments written here. People at any level from begginer to advanced learner are totally wecome, as long as they are not offensive to others.
You can try to use slangs, new expressions, and new phrases you've learnt. But I suggest you refrain from using vulgar words and dirty slangs if you are a begginer as that's gonna look uncool as hell.

76 :
*welcome

77 :
Ugh. So preacy...

78 :
If you found this preachy, then you didn't get my point

79 :
Ugh. My external harddisk is broken :(
My 4TB porn :(((

80 :
I wish I could buy a house.

81 :
>>79
So sorry.

82 :
If it should be fine tommorrow
I would go shopping to London.

83 :
>>75
Thank you. I'm not interesting in slang. It sounds like wannabe.

84 :
I’m going out for a date with a beautiful woman tonight.
I have booked decent restaurant, I bought a whiteday gift for her, and I shaved my beard this morning.
Anything else I should prepare? My heart is beating.

85 :
I should say my heart is beating “fast”.
Of course it is beating, otherwise I’m dead lol

86 :
>>84
Booking a hotel bro.

87 :
>>86
No, this is the first time one on one dating. I can’t be so bold now.

88 :
I would say “My heart is pounding” instead.
How about shaving “yourself”? Being hygienic is important.

89 :
>>87
I see.
Good luck bro. I hope you can get a beautiful chick.
I lost a chance to bang a girl lately.
So sad. I will focus on my work for a while.

90 :
>>88
Myself means my hair downstairs? I don’t shave it but I do cut when I feel it gets too long.
Some people(especially westerners) think unshaved crotch is unsanitary but IMO it’s not if you wash it everyday and keep it clean.
>>89
Thanks. I know your feel cuz I failed to get laid too on a previous chick.
I feel timing is very important. Asking having sex on a first date is too early but on fifth date could be too late. It would depend on girl I’m afraid.
In conclusion relationship is MendoKusai.

91 :
HOW DID THE DATE GO?!

92 :
I lost my mobile battery.
Does anyone know where it is ?

93 :
Have you heard this haunted place called “関口邸” in Saitama? I want to go there.

94 :
>>91
Sorry for this late report.
The date went pretty well actually. I was not as nervous as I had expected. Though we just had dinner tonight, we had a good chat and were relaxed all along there.
There was no awkward silence, which I usually feel with other girls. I gave her a whiteday gift and she appeared happy with it.
The only regret was that I didn’t even lay a finger on her. Next time I should hold her hand at least. I want to go watch a movie next time but almost all cinemas in Japan are temporarily closed due to the virus.
Where am I supposed to choose?

95 :
Bravo.
Keep it up, man.

96 :
>>92
Can I rent a mobile battery a little more?
I will put it back by next year.

97 :
>>92
Can I borrow some money?

How much do you need? It is possible to lend 100 million yen.
Before that, a credit check is required.
We will investigate if you can send necessary documents such as the repayment plan.

100 :
Today I read article of climate change of BBC news.
We are planted trees many millions but that is really need it?
If many planted trees can change climate then need it but that does not know.
